Just wondering what the "average" number of cores is for an average database server. Back in the day we ran mostly 2 and 4 core systems. Then we went to 4 and 8, then came hyperthreading to get us to 16. And then virtualization was all the rage and we were back to 2 (vCPU).
If you are able to, please count up the number of instances in your shop, the number of logical cores, and do some math. Let's round up to the nearest even number, too. And I'm not concerned if the server is virtual or not.
Thanks!
